The first born to parents who had lost two already Lisa says, “They
dedicated me to the Lord at birth.” As a toddler she was already
learning to pray and love Jesus. During her childhood with the family
falling apart and the following financial struggles there were many opportunities
and reasons for her relationship with the Lord to mature and be strengthened.
“I remember being on my knees around our living room coffee table
with my mother and younger sister holding hands. Before praying my mother
explained Mt. 18:20 where Jesus says that if two or more gather in His
name that He is there with them. She said Jesus is here with us so let’s
pray. I was probably about six but I’ll never forget that moment.”
Lisa attended Berea College as a Psychology major for 3 ½ years.
While very interested in the workings of the mind and counseling, it was
becoming apparent to her that she was “learning to put band-aids
on pains that only the Lord could heal.” She says she felt pulled
to something deeper. She dropped out and entered Florida Bible College.
“While the wisdom of this move could be soundly debated and I have
done so many times since in my own mind, I would never trade its benefits
to my life” she says. The word was fully established in her during
these years. After school she took a job as an Administrative Assistant
to the Pastor of her church in Florida. It was here that she met her Worship
Leading husband, Tom. “The gift of my family is the living out of
one of my deepest dreams on earth. The lessons of marriage and parenthood
that teach me so much more about God’s character as well as being
able to give back to Him through the raising up of servants/warriors for
His Kingdom is a profoundly wonderful experience.” She received
a degree in Theology from Tabernacle Bible College. And was ordained along
with her husband, Tom through Tabernacle Ministries in 1995.
She believes that the vision the Lord has given them for In The Midst
and its part in preparing the Bride of Christ for His return is God’s
call on their lives. It is clearly an intense desire of their hearts.
She calls it their destiny in God. “Tom and I long to see unity
come to the Church of Jesus.” “We want to see the Church fully
please the Lord with Her worship; consumed with His presence.” Lisa
has learned that unity, humility, and all we need to please the Lord with
our lives is found in looking at Him and being in His presence. It is
the stuff that spills out of living in those places. She says she knows
that she and Tom will find much joy in the fulfillment of this call even
though the work of providing the way is still left to God.
